Ok, I got it
This web site remembers the life and times of the CAROLINE MOVEMENT between 1977 and 1993.
LATEST UPDATE 22ND NOVEMBER 2009: ADDED SOME PHOTOS OF THE CM C.O.T. REUNION : ADDED TO THE JAYBEE BLOG:
CM 30 WEB SITE INDEX
Welcome to our web site for Caroline Movement enthusiasts. We are gradually building this site to include material that tells the story of the CM. This is not the story of the Offshore Radio world - but a web site dedicated to the people who actually created and operated the CM. However because of the close relationship between these organisations the story will inevitably be linked with the history of the broadcasters themselves.
On Monday November 9th 2009 a small group of the original Caroline Movement Central Organising team got together 16 years after the organisation was disbanded in 1993. Go to the bottom of the page on the "CM Pictures" page to see some more photos of this little get together
The Caroline Movement was an organisation formed by free radio enthusiasts to campaign for amendment to the law to allow UK enthusiasts to be able to enjoy their favourite radio stations. It all sounds rather odd now, but at the time many of us enjoyed the programming from what many call 'pirate' broadcasters. We preferred to describe them as unlicenced broadcasters. The organisation adopted the name of the best known offshore radio station of them all Caroline. Known to her fans as 'The Lady' Radio Caroline has (for she is still on air to this day) a special place in broadcasting history, but the CM supported all forms of free broadcasting.

The CM ceased to function in 1993, and most of the individuals who had been involved went on to other things. Some remained involved with offshore radio. This web site seeks to tell the story for those who might be interested.

2007 sees the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Caroline Movement. Consequently a number of the old team have reformed to bring the CM out of retirement. A re-union was to be organised during 2007, but for various reasons this didn't happen. The main reason was that it had proved more difficult than expected to make contact with everyone and find a date when we could all get together. However during 2008 much more success in establishing contacts was had and it looks far more likely that a gathering will take place later in 2009. Those interested in being involved are welcome to make contact with us. You can e-mail us with any news or views at carolinemovement@msn.com

This little web site is under construction and will gradually be expanded, to include photos from our own collections - many of which have never been seen before.

In the meantime you may like to take a look at some old photos of the radio ships used over the years by Caroline and others. These pictures have been produced by a host of photographers over the years. These familiar pictures will be replaced by a selection of our own CM archive in the months ahead. There will also be other interesting items so stay tuned.......
